Açaí Agroindustry

The Açaí Agroindustry is an initiative of Energia Sustentável do Brasil (ESBR), concessionaire of the Jirau Hydroelectric Plant (UHE), and aims to strengthen the fruit production chain in the region, generating more jobs and income.
The investment of around R $ 2 million was made at the discretion of ESBR through the sub-credit Social Line "E", of the National Bank for Economic and Social Development (BNDES).
The entire area, infrastructure and equipment of the Agroindustry were donated by ESBR to the Cooperative of Rural Producers of the Jirau Environmental Observatory (COOPPROJIRAU, which has been operating in the region since 2010 and in 2014 launched the project to Promote the Production of Açaí to meet the demand of the Rondônia market) .
The Açaí Agroindustry operation promotes the generation of direct and indirect jobs for more than 30 families. In addition, producers and extractivists in the region have another business opportunity with the sale of the fruit to COOPPROJIRAU, whose products have their origin in the Amazon, and together with small rural producers seek the sustainable development of family farming in the State of Rondônia.
The Agroindustry has a built-up area of 350 square meters, specific equipment and utensils for the production of up to 600 kilos of pulp per hour, with high quality, strictly following the standards required by current legislation.
